You know what I can't stand? I can't fucking stand watching a guy who wants to get off the mat keep his guard closed when the guy he's fighting isn't even threatining to pass. What is there not to understand? If you want to get up you can't just hold your guard closed and hope the ref stands it up, you've got to make space and get the fuck up.

The only reason to close your guard is if your opponent is trying to pass or your trying to control your opponents posture other wise your ass needs to create space to either get up or attack with a sub.

That dude who lost was green as fuck on the ground, you could tell in how he was trying to set up those armbars.
