What makes this really shitty is Bendo vs Miller isn't until August. So it probably wouldn't make sense for him to fight the winner of that fight with that wait. Too bad because that would setup a true #1 contender matchup.

Well now that we have finally broken through with a SF fighter coming into the UFC while still apparently under contract with SF, who knows. The flood gates might be open now. Why can't other fighters sign new contracts like Nick? Nick's contract seems to be somewhat ground breaking. First fighter to be under contract to fight for both SF and UFC.

Does this mean Melendez is next ?

Solution > After Pettis shitkicks Guida, send him to Strikeforce to face the very dangerous and top ranked Gilbert Melendez and if he wins bring him back within a year once this mess has been sorted out in the UFC. The if Showtime wins the UFC strap he'd have the triple crown of LW titles.

You could say Gil would have a triple crown of titles if he won that matchup. Even though the DREAM and WEC titles wouldn't be on the line he would have wins(in title fights) over the current Champions.

I've been saying this for a few months now.

I think Pettis should be offered a chance to sit out and weight for a title shot if he wins and wants to wait. He's already earned a title shot, but then there was a draw so he takes on a contender instead of waiting. That right there is a ballsy move. He should be rewarded and not given the Okami treatment. He is after all a exciting fighter that puts on a show and not a boring decision machine like Fitch & Okami.

Pretty shwag, Pettis would deserve it IMO getting past Guida paired with being the last WEC Champ.


Perfect situation to send Pettis over to SF if he beats Guida and take on Gil IMO.
