Keith Jardine vs. Gegard Mousasi Set for Strikeforce April 9

Jardine, who was once among the UFC's light heavyweight rising stars, was cut by that promotion last year when he lost his fourth straight fight. He then signed with Shark Fights and lost a fifth consecutive fight, and it appeared that his career had been derailed.

But Jardine stayed active and has won two straight fights on small-time MMA shows, and now he's jumping at a major opportunity to fight Mousasi.

Mousasi, who was slated to fight Mike Kyle until Kyle had to pull out of the fight with an injury, will be heavily favored to beat Jardine. But if Jardine could pull the upset, he'd be on a three-fight winning streak and all of a sudden relevant in the light heavyweight division again.

Jardine stayed in the UFC's good graces and said all the right things after he was cut by the UFC, and that was obviously a wise move now that the UFC has purchased Strikeforce. This is a big opportunity for Jardine to fight on a big-time card again, not long after it looked like his career was going nowhere.

This is a bad match up for Jardine. He's outclassed by Mousasi in speed and striking.

He has the same game plan every fight. Move awkwardly, throw legs kicks, & get KTFO.

I think Jardine will go for the takedown early and often.

On this short of notice and Mousasi looking dominant in most of his film..he'll probably just watch the King Mo fight and say "yeah, i'll just do that" even though he's no elite wrestler.

Will they allow Jardine a few lbs on short notice?

When has Jardine shown any kind of takedowns. Mousasi isn't Cro Cop or Chuck in their prime, but he takedown defense is decent.

R.I.P Jardine.

Only better fight they could have put together on this short notice was Vera, it'll do. Jardine has a chance to reinvigorate his career here, probably won't happen though. And Kings is right about going for takedowns, but not all those by Mo were World class level, some were weak and Mousasi showed a lack of takedown D.

Jardine is a live dog in this fight. I dont think he will win but it definitely wouldnt surprise me if he did.

I will be shocked if Jardine is conscious at the end of this one.

Well with the short notice and all maybe u are right but Jardine really needs a good showing in this fight.

Great last minute find since Kyle just got hurt. I like this fight and I know it will be a stand up slugfest. I think Jardine gets outclassed and KO'd in the 1st or 2nd round at the latest. Mousasi won't be able to take Jardine down and I doubt he would. He should know he is the better striker, but Jardine could bring a gameplan that makes this fight better than I might be thinking. I like it!

Great fight to make on such short notice.

Any fight with Jardine can't be a great fight. Maybe I'm mistaken, but Jardine isn't in the top 20 at 205.

I dont think a guy has to be in the top 20 to be in a great fight but u are right he isnt a top 20 fighter to me either.

True. The action can make it a great fight, but then we could say that before any fight.

Do you not like the fight Farmer ?

Considering the date is a week away this was the best replacement out there for Mousasi.
