Bellator 36 debut scores 230,000 viewers

Bellator's second season-four event, Bellator 36, netted 230,000 viewers for MTV2's live broadcast, and the immediate replay actually outdrew the live airing with 241,000 fans tuning in.

The live airing earned a 16 percent increase from this season's debut episode, and the immediate replay earned an astounding 90 percent increase over the previous week's replay broadcast.

Unlike Bellator's season-four debut, Bellator 36 went unopposed by any other major live MMA events.

Compared to the previous week's live airing and immediate replay, Bellator 36 scored a 56 percent ratings increase among men ages 18 to 34, a staggering 119 increase with men ages 25 to 34, and an impressive 45 percent increase in total average audience.

Maybe Bellator can expand? ProElite is looking to get back into MMA. Maybe they can invest in Bellator?

I dont think Zuffa will buy any MMA orgs for awhile now. People are starting to question if they are a monopoly or monopsony.

Bellator should continue with their model for the next couple of years before they start to expand.

They have already had some solid former UFC fighters on roster before. Like Huerta, Horn and now Rosholdt. They have also said they would be willing to co-promote. I'm just saying, expansion seems possible.

lol yeah those talks were about SF. But still, if it ever popped up in the future they are open. There is enough talent out there.

I do agree, just having some fun with the blood comment. I think their standard operating procedure actually induces growth in non-typical ways. They are an MMA org that operates in a wholly unique fashion, in seasons. Each season thus far has seen them grow without expansion. It's pretty cool. They have some very respectable fighters working for them and the tried and true tournament format does nothing but develop more fighters worthy of recognition.
