Shine Fights expected to sign TV deal

Shine Fights has been looking to make some major moves recently including the signing of former “Ultimate Fighter” winner Efrain Escudero to a contract. Now the upstart organization appears on the verge of signing a deal to bring their brand of MMA to cable television.
Shine Fights COO Jason Chambers revealed the news to MMAWeekly.com in an exclusive interview on Tuesday.“For all intensive purposes we’ve come to an agreement,” Chambers said about the new TV deal. “It’s just a matter of dotting the “I”s and crossing the “T”s.”
While Chambers stopped short of naming which network would get the rights for Shine Fights, he did say it was a recognizable name that fans of MMA will be able to access with ease.“It’s definitely a network that everyone will be familiar with,” Chambers disclosed. “It’s a network that I think is the right size and the right scope for where we are.”

Cool. I was sure they were done for after that whole Ricardo Mayorga fiasco.

Could they be coming to VS? Or is that impossible? Maybe FSN? With the reports of Bellator in trouble.

VS. is still going to do UFC shows. So i doubt they'll bring in another promotion.

That is what I thought, but VS is only doing like 4 shows a year..I think. What about FSN? The way Shine Fights words it and the recent trouble with Bellator make me thinks might be FSN.

I'd say no way are they going to be on VS, I'm sure the UFC has something in their contract saying they are the only promotion on the channel.


Maybe the USA network, TNT, TBS or something along those lines?

maybe, but if FSN is not bringing Bellator back it might mean they arent getting good ratings. It's hard for MMA to be on FSN because they would pretty much throw ANYTHING other-sports related on during MMA's timeslot if BFC was any indication. We were getting crappy college game between unranked outhouses instead of Bellator...and we were catching re-runs of the same shit in times where Bellator should have been replayed.

I could just be reading too much into it, but I'm thinking it is a channel that has already shown MMA before.

USA, TNT or TBS would be too big time for it not to be the UFC or Strikeforce getting the deal. Right now, those statios don't seem ready to take MMA though whoever can get on USA before or following WWE RAW. That's a big deal.

Should be interesting whichever way it goes.


One of the amateur promotions in NJ has a deal with Blackbelt TV could be something along that line.

I know Shogun Fights in MD has a deal with Comcast that shows their fights in the PA, De, Md areas.

Well they are saying it is a network that it is recognizable and easily accessible.

Man if they get on FSN that would be a big time hit to Bellator.

Despite having that very interesting WW tourney, Bellator has no TV deal to date. Waiting this long, and having another MMA get on TV(FSN or not) cannot help their negotiation power.

Shine Fights signed Rolles Gracie to a contract.
