Brock Lesnar was scheduled to go to the Mayo Clinic the day we went to press. He's still got major health problems and there are now discussions that he won't be back in six months and they'll probably need an interim title. The rumor is that he's lost a ton of weight, perhaps as much as 50 pounds, and it's going to be quite a while before he's ready to fight again if all comes up clean in his Mayo exams.

Dave Meltzer of f4wonline.com and Yahoo

I think Brock will come back eventually, but this illness seems to be taking a huge toll on his body. I think we can all agree that Brock freakish athleticism and strength is the difference between him being a Champ HW in UFC, to being a middle of the pack average HW. He is just about in his mid 30's, he's been extremely ill for a couple months and counting. His layoff can possibly be a year and half if not more. Can you realistically see Brock coming back and being the same consdering the rise of younger huge guys with maybe more well rounded skills that seem to be popping up out of nowhere? We'll see.

As A Brock fan i hate too hear this. 50 pounds is a ton of weight to lose and I guess right now the main thing is get his health right. Interim title wont be the worse idea either but wonder who fights for it?

Frank MIGHT beat Carwin but there is no way he'd beat Cain or Nog. Cain would wear him out with his cardio and Nog would get revenge now that he is 100%. And that is IF Mir didn't get caught against Carwin.

I hate how people keep saying Nog wasn't 100%. Once you're in the cage no excusses. If you're not right don't fight.

I used to feel bad for Brock and his issues and for the things I said about him. But honestly his problems were most likly associated to his steriod use in the past. Putting back on 50 pounds of muscle is going to be difficult and prolly next to impossible without the aid of roids. JMO

Sure, no excuses, an L is an L. But if we are going to predict a possible rematch we have to factor that in.

That said I don't deem it impossible that Mir beats any of those guys.

I think Mir is the second best HW in the UFC. I'd love for him to get a rematch with Nog so he could prove that he's better.

lol people actually think Frank Mir is this good?

His entire career is three fights; an armbar of poopy in 04, fighting a WWE freakshow fresh out of the wrasslin ring who was still destroying him but for a foolish move only King of the Cage level fighters make which was brutally erased later, and a fight with a guy who had 1. a blown, NFL season ending, knee & 2. a staph infection that kept him in the hospital for the greater part of the 20 days leading into the fucking fight.

Oh, oh oh, but we have to count that fight as equal amirite? I mean, Nog stepped in the cage, so all data surrounding the fight is irrelevant, and the W and the L are all that matter right? And thus we have no choice but to count that win as even better than Fedor's Nog wins since it was an actual stoppage.

Right!

so, in that case, how about the two manhandlings Mur took by Cruz and Vera? Those gotta be factored in too right? What's this you say? Motorcycle crash? We can count that but not Nog's fight condition? Even though Nog's was significantly worse than Mur's when he got murdered? Even though Nog looked like an extra from 28 Days Later minus the actual physical ability to sprint or lift 100 pounds?

"Frank Mir Fan" lives in a dream world.

Fact - Frank Mir has never really ever demonstrated good cardio his entire career, and wasn't tested enough in his recent fights to assume his cardio problems have gone anywhere. It is likely that he naturally just doesn't have the athletic ability to have good cardio.

Fact - Frank Mir has never out struck anyone other than a reanimated corpse.

Fact - His BJJ is amazingly overrated to the point the winner of TUF Roy Nelson, cleaned his clock at a grapplers quest years ago, before the motorcycle crash and any possible excuse his loser fans can throw at you becomes available.

Frank Mir is a good HW, but I am not convinced he could beat even two of the top ten fighters in the world, and am firmly convinced his last real credible win over a top ten opponent was five years ago.

As for Brock, this is sad, because now the rest of our lives we will be subjected to legions assholes and morons who claim that Brock was the best ever, but never got a chance to prove it, when in reality he probably wouldn't have defended his title for more than a year and would have gone .500 in his remaining bouts.

I would have much rather have seen his downfall happen with him at 100%.

You're the moron who thinks Brock would've only gone .500 for the rest of his career. He already Destroyed Randy and Mir and was only getting better and better. Only fedor could've beaten him with no one else even a challenge.

Come on Wolf???? .500 the rest of his career??? Thats a joke and u know it lol! Brock had a chance to be great and he still does if he recovers from this injury which I hope he does. Brock is right now the champ and will remain the champ for a while. Carwin wasnt going to beat him, Mir couldnt beat him, Cain wasnt going to beat him, and Nog has the best shot and he isnt no more healthy than Brock. He was and will be champ for a long time if he comes back near or the same as before the injury.

You are a Frank Mir hater plain and simple. I get it and so does everyone else, you don't like the guy. The bottom line is that he's been successful at the sport's highest levels and will continue to be. He beat the shit out of the only Nog that was put in front of him so the fact that you keep going back to that is garbage. What was Frank supposed to do? Suggest to Dana that they postpone the fight because after Frank performed a physical exam on him he didn't seem fit to fight? Nog was cleared to fight so obviously he wasn't in that bad of shape.

All the experts will tell you that Frank's BJJ is the among the best in the business. I hope and pray that after Frank destroys Kongo he will get another shot at Nog so he can shut you up. I'm sure if Robert Drysdale read the garbage that spews forth from your keyboard his opinion on Mir's BJJ would be completely changed.

Frank did what he was supposed to do. Fight and win. That changes not the fact that the win is hollow. Look, if you beat the Colts while Manning, Addai, Wayne and Clark sit out with injuries, the win means less. Facts of life my boy. Not all wins are created equal. The world is more complex than black and white. TK's win over Fedor and Hamill's win over Jones don't count the same as a typical win either do they? GSP would have crushed Nog that night.

And there are a huge number of HW's that could beat both Mir and Randy at this point. I firmly believe Nelson would beat them both. Mir is overrated, Randy is the oldest fighter to ever win a fight in the UFC.

You truly trust the decisions of a guy who chose that tattoo for his chest?

I wasn't wrong on Mir then. What I said was iron clad. Mir has significantly improved since then. Look at his body movement and footwork nowdays vs how it used to be. Look how much bigger he is.

I was wrong thinking Mir wouldn't improve. And admittedly was somewhat wrong for ignoring Mir's upgraded striking against Lesnar. Still can't factor Nog's fight because of what is widely known about it.

Anyway, Nelson out grappled Mir already and has super KO power. You honestly think Mir is on another level? Based on what?

HW is ultimately a crap shoot between guys with heavy hands. MMA skills are much less important for the big HW's. Heavy handed wrestlers stink up the rankings nowdays after six months of training.

How is it concievable that one could enter a GSP or Penn level of domiance in such an environment? Brock has superman muscles ya ya, but a single flush punch from Nelson, Mir, Kongo or Carwin behind the ear could just as easily lead to a three month medical suspension.

Fedor is the only HW worth even liking honestly. What a shitty weight class.

Top ten HW shrunken to MW becomes Jake Rosholt. Even at LHW they become Ryan Bader.
